Erica Dixon received her BFA from the University of Colorado Boulder with a minor in Technology, Arts, & Media in 2012. During her time at UC-Boulder, Erica joined her professor Richard Saxton during his Frontier Fellowship as an intern and production assistant. One year later she found herself back in Green River as a Frontier Fellow herself.
I spent my weeks in residence observing the color and sign vernacular of the boom-and-bust desert town, and observed how it related to the dramatic landscape.
These drawings and image reliefs were installed in a now defunct White Sands Missile Range as Green River Green.
I also assisted in Epicenter's Melon Days participation including the kids art booth and the Seed Spittin’ Contest. My design included an obstacle course, a taste test, spitting for accuracy, and spitting for distance.
